Blockbuster Need for Speed Mustang.
Almost a year back I did a commemorative article “50 Year and One Millionth Mustang.” One of the aspects that I highlighted in the article was the Mustang appearances in Blockbuster movies. Though I did write a conservative figure of 500+ flicks… Even so, as per FoMoCo’s official press release “Mustang has had the most prolific film and television careers of any car, with more than 3200 appearances chronicled at MustangIMDB.com “
It would be inevitable to say that Mustang outing in the movie will ever stop. Hence DreamWorks Pictures recently involved in a production of a movie called Need for Speed adaption of one of the most famously known video gaming title Need for Speed by Electronic Arts. Need For Speed is being directed by Scott Waugh, who is known for his work on Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Bruce Almighty and probably his magnum opus movie The last of the Mohicans.
However, for all the car’s sucker lovers, note that this time again the hero car role is given to Mustang. Nevertheless, the most important factor of all is that this time around it will be the yet-be-released all new 2015 Mustang.
Mustang is recognized as the equivalent of Automobile’s pop culture icon. “On-screen or on the road, the visceral sight and sound of Mustang have been inspiring fans for nearly five decades,” said Jim Farley, Ford’s executive vice president, global marketing, sales and service and Lincoln. “The feeling of optimism and being in control that Mustang’s world-class power and performance provide is a perfect match for Aaron Paul’s character in Need for Speed.”
Scott Waugh spent no time for acquiring the new Mustang. “I chose Mustang because it is a car that really represents American culture,” said Waugh. “It just represents modern muscle, and it’s iconic, having been in some of the greatest car chase movies of all time.”
However, here’s the real deal for everyone to anyone who is just born and want to drive Mustang and someone who just can’t have one, since they are one and equal can still always drive virtually without leaving the TV couch, the new Mustang, which became available as a free in-game download in EA’s Need for Speed Rivals in mid-December. Players in the game can also customize their Mustangs with a choice of five popular designs created using the online Mustang Customizer, including one inspired by RTR founder and drift champion Vaughn Gittin Jr.
And once again, but this time for all the Mustang’s sucker lovers there is one more surprise perhaps a farewell to the current Mustang and the hat tip to Carroll Shelby (died in May 2012) a bespoke movie special Shelby GT500 in Silver with dual blue center stripes was prepared. This was a highly modified Shelby GT 500 that sans rear quarter window and incorporate an air vent. The “Need for Speed” Mustang was created solely for the movie and features a custom-designed wide body with unique 22-inch alloy wheels, and larger intakes to feed its supercharged V8 engine.
Furthermore, as reported by the Mustang fan site http://mustangsdaily.com/ that the movie car will have a 900 horsepower. Interior wise it has a head-up display and rearview image appearing on the left and right side of the HUD speedo. Yes, the car doesn’t have any door wing mirrors! However, the same car will also appear in 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Homestead as Ford EcoBoost 400 Pace Car.
