Hennessey Venom GT hits World’s Fastest 270.49 mph
Watch one of the most phenomenal land speed record the world fastest at 270.49 mph by Hennessey Venom GT. It was performed at Cape Canaveral, Florida at the Kennedy Space Center on the 3.2-mile Space Shuttle landing runway. Brian Smith, Director of Miller Motorsport, experienced race driver and a former Michelin tire test engineer, drove the Venom GT to its record speed. 270.49 mph!
This is surely an astronomical task. Taking brutal onslaught of speed Michelin Pilot Super Sport; 265/30ZR19 fronts, 345/30ZR20 rear, were in a survival of the fittest. Then the 15.0 x 1.3-in. Carbon-ceramic rotors, 6-piston Brembo fixed calipers for stopping the force. Everything must work to the max to achieve this qualification. And then off course it was recorded on Racelogic’s VBOX 3i GPS system. Venom GT with a curb weight of 1,244 kilograms (2,743 lb.) and a power output of 1,244 bhp from its GM sourced 7.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine; the Venom delivers 1 horsepower per kilogram of curb weight, making it the hardest-accelerating and fastest series-produced vehicle in the world.
John Hennessey, founder and president told: I wanted to be an astronaut when I was a kid. Neil Armstrong was my childhood hero. Even though the astronaut thing didn’t work out for me, I am humbled to have had the opportunity to set our speed record on the hallowed grounds of the American space program,” said Hennessey. “Building and validating our Venom GT as the world’s fastest has been a long journey and a lot of hard work. But as President Kennedy once so eloquently said, ‘We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard.’ As a result we have built a better car and a better team at Hennessey Performance (HPE).”
Just in case if you are interested in one not too many as the production run will be limited to 29 only. 11 already have been sold. And in case you really buying from the remainder then you should also know that it will take almost 6 months to finish. However, on a softer note, its good to know that the Venom GT comes standard with Steven Tyler designed sound system.
- Venom GT will not be included in Guinness Records as it requires a 2 way run. Though undoubtedly that could’ve been done.
- But Guinness Records requires a production number of at least 30. Off course this can’t be changed as John Hennessey promised a production number to max 29 only.
