Motoring Nostalgia – A First ever Museum at the 2015 Dubai International Motor show
40 years of the rarest and greatest cars ever made – A once in a life time chance to view
I am an avid fan of the famous venture angling show on US telly the shark tank. Mark Cuban, the famous entrepreneur and regular on Shark Tank once said at the time of securing a heavy deal that the future of entertainment is now in the stadiums. He wasn’t wrong as he is the owner of a very NBA’s illustrious team, the Dallas Mavericks. But what he said wasn’t anything new. We see numerous rock stars circling the planet gathering a stadium full fan base for their one night only sold out concerts! Furthermore, there are other sporting events like soccer, rugby or cricket that brings the whole city at the colosseum to watch their superstars in action.
People who are living here in Dubai are much too familiar with these events that are spread across the yearly calendar. However, what is special for the most this year is the biannual Dubai International Motor show. Not only Dubai Motor show has become the most recognized exhibition over the years, it is also one of the most important and influencing event across the Middle East region. And just like F1 racing takes place across the globe, Dubai Motor show for the auto manufacturer and the public has a special place in this important region.
All these concerts and sporting events, if sounds synonymous then treat yourself with this year at the 13th edition of 2015 DIMS. Besides the matter of fact that a staggering 100,000 visitors are expected the a part of motor mania for 5 days. It’s the addition of Motoring Nostalgia. A first ever museum at the 2015 Dubai International Motor show, where the exhibitors have gone miles ahead, making it possible to put a display, a collection of 80 rarest cars of all times with a worth of astronomical 300,000,000 AED. Yes, that’s three hundred million!!
All of this would not have been possible without the support of the President of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE, and 14-time Middle East Rally Champion Dr. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, Tomini Classics, the Sharjah Museum and the Al Ain Classics collections, as well as the courtesy from a number of proud owners from the Dubai Grand Parade.
Mega Reason # 3 – Classic Cars worth 300,000,000 AED
True that, these classic beauties stood the test of times and inspired many designers to design the new upcoming cars based on them. Today’s bad boy super powerful Lamborghini Aventador draws the inspiration from another baddest and the maddest, hard to tame ever Lamborghini Countach is a no brainer.
How about a classic gullwing Mercedes 300SL or pristine beauty the 1961 Jaguar E-Type all will be present there. Then there’s jaw dropping super cool Ford Thunderbird, a very rare Ferrari Dino 246 GTS. All above are the few luminaries in the in the annals of classic cars.
Me, I would be going there to see a super classic from 1967, a Toyota 2000 GT. Lately one of the example was sold at the auction or I should rather rephrase it: Toyota 2000 GT has the power to fetch a colossal 1.2 million US dollar at an auction! The last time I saw one, when I visited the Toyota Automobile Museum in Tokyo. One of the world’s finest collection of classic and vintage cars will be showcased at the Dubai International Motor Show in the Motoring Nostalgia Museum. Check out some of these ageless beauties in 2015 DIMS photo gallery to get an idea of the assortment of Classic Cars that collectively cost more than 300,000,000 AED
Mega Reason # 3 has got enough pull to drag you there to fulfill your high octane dream into reality. What’s more, for the first time ever there will be one and only American rally and stunt driver Ken Block will be here. Then comes our local heroes Mohammed Balooshi Emirati Motorcross Rider Kris Fade – Virgin Radio RJ to entertain along.
