The 2015 Nissan Sunny Makes A Comeback With A Facelift
Somewhere on a prestigious Palm Jumeirah’s luxury villa Nissan invited me for a homely Iftar. The Iftars are always supposed to be an occasion where all family members unite together and enjoy a snug feel, the warm saucily cooked soup and pastries with dates and other freshly cut fruits to cherish the blessings of the holy month. Perhaps that was the idea lurking in the mind behind the launch of 2015 Nissan Sunny. Elaboratively (just coined it) speaking, since its launch in 1966 as a B-10 series small 2 door sedan. Back then it was called Datsun 1000. Fast-forward to the present day and you’ll be surprised to know that Nissan Sunny found 20 million homey garages globally! That’s a staggering figure. Let me throw some lil’ facts and figures at you as you may wonder why you see so many around you, especially the ubiquitous ones that wear the L-plates (Learners). The present 10th generation has sold 2.2 million around the world and here in GCC the Sunny accounts for 15 percent of all Nissan product’s sale. That ‘s an immense number of faithful Sunny customers. I hope you are appeased by now!
Sit inside the 10th generation Nissan Sunny and you’ll be perplexed with all the above figures. The story is a bit different. The plastic around the cabin was low rent, the dash board design seems like as if the designer wanted to challenge the driver with “go figure” approach as you try to reach for the cigarette lighter or even the placement of the cup holders ahead of the gear-stick. However, Nissan done an extensive survey and admitted the drawbacks from humdrum exterior design to an equally mundane and mediocre quality cabin. Hence with newly launched 2015 Sunny, Nissan addressed all the concerns to raise the social status of the car by adding a premium look and feel. The new 2015 is a face-lifted model by adding bold character. Starting from the newly design boomerang style head-lights. The new front fascia is also benefited from big chrome, and black gloss center grill with fog lights are housed with chrome bezel to complete the end-to-end look. The wing mirrors are now come with LED repeaters. Furthermore, there’s an addition of chrome bar on the rear deck over the license plate. The rear bumper is also redesigned, though only noticeable once the older car parked next to it. The top model also gets the new 12 spoke Y pattern 15-inch alloy wheels. Overall Nissan freshened the exterior by the added sharpness and stiffness in the design projects bolder look with a premium feel.
Once inside the cabin, where you spend the most time, Nissan wants you to spend more time by providing class leading Nissan Connect system, that allows to connect your phone via Bluetooth and interact with social media apps on the large LCD screen… Also the dashboard and the plastic quality is upgraded. The new steering wheel borrowed from Sentra comes with mounted audio control buttons. The center console is now finished in piano black with Aircon controls are designed in circle like an old telephone rotary dialer.
Today selling a product that maybe a car, do require marketing research or perhaps some rocket science. Mantras like “value addition,” “Unique Selling Propositions” makes a product solely to stand apart from the similar products as a strong player. The 2015 Nissan Sunny is strongly supported by such class exclusive points so that it can be well appreciated by its faithful customers. A big 490 liters of boot space, A separate comfort fan for the rear seated passengers along with ample space for the rear-seat occupants. Nissan Connect for interactive Social media activity like Facebook and Google’s connectivity. The model retains the class-leading safety features. ABS, EBD and Brake Assist are standard across the Sunny range as are the driver & passenger airbags. Unchanged this year is its class-leading fuel efficiency from its 1.5-lire petrol engine producing 99hp to do the needful.
