Ford Performance, the skunk-work division of the Ford motor company – responsible to bring out the performance products to world is more than busy under Raj Nair. He has global responsibility for all aspects of Ford Motor Company’s product development system and research and advanced engineering. Nair, now is seen personally involved during the testing phase of every model that will bear the seal Ford Performance.
Ford GT – Le Mans Development Phase
History has it that Ford wanted to buy the Ferrari sometime back in early 60’s, In order to regularize the deal Ford reportedly spent over a million to audit Ferrari. However, at the last minute Ferrari backed out leaving the Ford management in fumes. Henry Ford II decided to launch an incendiary machine that would make Enzo Ferrari rub his nose on the Le Mans racing field. Hence that mark the birth of the Ford GT and the result Ford GT won four races on the trot between the period of 1966 – 1969, the 24 Heures du Mans!
Today, Ford wants to be back in the game, to mark the 50th anniversary of Ford GT race cars placing 1-2-3 at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. Ford went on to repeat its victory at Le Mans in 1967, 1968 and 1969.

Though the performance models of Focus started it’s life as European only model – ST and RS, it took no time to reach their popularity and demand back to USA.
